Hello all

It was often struck by the large amount of graffiti on the exterior walls of the churches of campaigns, and the presence of N reversed, either alone on the walls, or in proper names, often given names, signing pilgrims. They are also found in the case of Rennes-le-Ch?teau
The first reflex is to assume a misspelling, or rather a careless error, or a typographical error left. But the presence, as we shall see, N reversed in signatures Art can not be satisfied with this simple explanation.
A first important point is that, to our knowledge, these inverted N are found only on religious places or religious character. It entrouve also publishing a set of tarot of Marseille.

SlideShow of N inverted

N reversed in churches
? We have found in graffiti on the walls outside southern small Norman churches.
? We found a table in a Signol in the church of Saint Sulpice in Paris. This is the picture of the Crucifixion and the INRI (Jesus of Nazareth King of the Jews) on the cross has its N reversed. Peculiarity of this picture: N Signol name in the box for his signature is also reversed.
Assumption: N reversed in the name of Signol could lead to return the full name: is long, the name of the Roman centurion who pierced Christ with his spear.
? The INRI the tombstone Sauniere at Rennes-le-Ch?teau has its N reversed.
We realize that we have little evidence in our possession to draw conclusions advanced, however, a very sensible explanation on
Because of these N reversed:
The "reverse N" should be read in bird language "inverse of hatred. "
Now the opposite of hate is the "Love ".
Now there is nothing more natural than to find love in the symbol of Christ and therefore in churches and cemeteries ...

Do you have any other ideas on this?

Good reading

Luc

I know some older Alphabet used the Inverse N but can't remember what one.

I was thinking it was the Cyrillic but not so.

While stationed in Greece, I learned the alphabet as so I could read and pronounce all correct.  I had no Idea what ta ell it said.  LOL!

It could be a Hold Over from some place in Older Europe, Huh??

Hello Homefire

You're right about some old scripts, but what is strange in some text that I watch, there are texts written in Latin and French aussien or N is reversed without reason appears, sometimes in a single text some N are in the right position and other reversed.

 Great

Have you talked to any linguistics about it ? It could well be an old script that still used by some groups.

Hey Seldom

This may indeed also a sign of recognition, only known to insiders. Relating the engraving on a tombstone it is highly unlikely that the family accepts the entry requesting engraving erroneous text, unless the text is again Engraved without error, unless it is voluntary, but the reason escapes us.

 Hi All
I will say perhaps it's just another way of writing the letter N. This is a simple answer, Luck I'm sure you are looking for more meaning.
This would be used in old alphabets, such as from Northman's from Scandinavia. I think they came to your country some centuries back.

Hi Goldnboy

That may be a good idea but I think it is not so simple because if you watched the slideshow there too in the same text of the N well oriented with the N reversed, why would we do that in a even wrote.

Kind regards

Luc

 Hi Luc
Short answer ,the reverse N has more meaning, history... this is my opinion. I will try to find the Northman meaning.
