Found those 2 rings that I am sure by theirs high polishing are stainless steel ( no markings)
I have 2 questions that may be somebody can answer:
Do you find any difference in sound with gold as I did not with my excalibur.
Done the acid test and only the 22k acid erase the mark.
Done the electronic test with a Mizar and the 10k light up.
I am still not convinced that it is 10k white gold.
Thanks for yours answers.

I've found a few stainless steel rings with various detectors and have not noticed a difference in tone. This is obviously recall after the fact as the ring was already in my possession. If I had known before I dug it that it was stainless, my answer might be different.

Two very nice looking rings!! I think by the color of the golds streak, ex: yellow-brown, gold, etc.  The different colors mean different Karats.  Hoped that helped a bit.

Can't really say much in regards to your questions but those are some nice finds you've got there.  Thanks for sharing them.

Nice finds.

Sounds like you found gold.

Gold sounds different on my Tesoroes. It sounds like trash. lol

When my Mizar M24 says 10k, I trust it. I keep it clean and all.

I never found it to lie when I do it right.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

You got me curious about the gold tester. On the product description page, here is what they say about platinum.

"TESTING FOR PLATINUM
Platinum is indicated when the test-item reads 22K or higher.  That is because white Gold above 18K is virtually non-existant.

TESTING FOR PALLADIUM
Both Palladium and Platinum will indicate Karat Gold if tested. Platinum jewelry is usually traded at a higher price than Gold jewelry, so Platinum is seldom marked as Gold. Palladium, however, is one-quarter to one-third the price of pure Gold, so it should be noted that pure Palladium may read as medium Karat Gold.  Palladium prong settings are sometimes soldered into diamond solitaire White Gold rings.  If Palladium is suspected, it is easily distinguished from Gold as nitric acid will quickly turn Palladium dark, Gold is not affected in this way."

Is it possible the ring is platinum versus gold? Platinum is seldom marked. It might be a real treasure there with platinum being in such demand.

All the rings in platinum that I have found have always been marked ever plat or pl.For the mizar they are right.Never saw 18k in white gold so you ave to assume if it read 18k and is white it as to be platinum.

most platinum rings are stamped "lridPlat" or .90plat/lR, so 90%,or .95plat wich is as close to 100%,as for your rings I think they can only be stainless,V2a or(V4a is high grade stainless steel) V4a is mostly used in the food industry, pharma and for surgical (OP) instruments,,so your nice rings are V2a or inox...ps Im in the welding game Smiley, mikek

Thanks for yours answers.I am also thinking that they can only be stainless.Thinking also that there should be a law in jewelery Grin Stamp and identify the metal before you sell it.By our hobby we know a little bit about precious metals.Imagine the general public that can be told anything.
