There has been a subsequent report in and English national paper 'Daily Mail' that the found coins are worth about ?250,000 [about $340,000] and the proceeds will be shared between the finder and the farmer. The report on Yahoo with regard to the coins being worth ?3.3 million appears to be erroneous.

Thanks for the update.......I'd still be happy with a share like that.

First reports often are, thanks for the update and old Seldom would be happy with half.

Yeah so would I. Trouble is, most of my time is spent on the beaches. Half the time cannot get permission to go onto a farmers fields, or, the land belongs to big contractors and you never know who they are. Also, anything found in England whether it be gold or silver has to be handed in. This I don't mind as if it is declared treasure trove you get what the market will pay for it. Most of this was brought about by idiots who take metal detectors onto archaeological sites and never declaring what they found and a loss to archaeology as well. So the law came down pretty hard and now we are all hamstrung by it. Still if it preserves the treasures of our country so be it. It has benefited things enormously, and although detectorists are frowned upon by the experts, we have extended their knowledge to our history big time.
