One of my latest finds, an equal-ended roman plate brooch.
 Detecting
A Roman 2nd century AD equal-ended plate brooch made from copper-alloy. It has a raised and recessed rectangular panel to the centre (now empty) and stepped down and surrounding this is a narrow beaded frame. There are extended corners on each side of the moulded outer field, and between them and the central panel, a wide, shallow groove that runs lengthways. The lobed terminals are symmetrical, with deeply moulded recesses between them and the body of the brooch. On the underside of the terminal ends is a hinged lug (for the pin) and an opposing catchplate.
Size: 40mm x 18mm
