hi eugene,field finds ,mostly just under the surface after ploughing,Ive found ancient coins lying on the surface,while some park finds have to dig 4" or 5" for a 1930 1pfennig (same size as your pennys)

nice coins  Clapp sometimes i am sad that i my region was free Germania and the romans never been here. So i only can find roman coins when i am going to south bavaria.  Cry

nice I of course being in the usa can not find such bits of history --so I got some uncleaned --unsorted coins for $3 each at my local coin shop --soaking them in white vingar now in a attempt to clean the up --got 8 in total one cleaned up already -- arcaduis --383 -408 bc -- vot v back mark -siscia mint
