There are literally thousands of treasure wrecks around the island. American treasure hunters will flock to Cuba to get a salvage permit.

What makes you think there are going to be any Permits?

The Cuban govt. has issued permits in the past to private salvage companies. Visa Gold Resources, a Canadian company was one of them. I called Ed Burtt and he said he is going down there in Jan. Look at his web page:

Nickel_n Cuba has their own salvage laws. They consider any wrecks in their territorial waters as their property. There are currently two government salvage companies excavating Spanish wrecks, Carisub and Geomar. Just like here in Florida, private salvage companies are working the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet and we thumb our noses at the Spanish claim to their soverign shipwrecks.  Mad The gold and silver on board came from American mines.
