Th Kingdom of Pacem , better known as Pasai . This kingdom was situated to the South East of Achem = Aceh= Atjeh . It was for a long time the most important Kingdom of East Sumatra until it was taken over by Achem . The river in Pasai which was of great importance for the trade of that time  was Peusangan . The rulers of Pasai were  :  Sultan al Malik al Shaleh ( Merah Silu )  1275 -  1297  ,   Sultan Muhammad Malik al Dhahir  1297 - 1326  ,  Sultan Ahmad al Dhahir  1326 - 1371  , Sultan Zainal Abidin Malik al Dhahir 1371 - 1405 ,  Sultan Hidayah Malik al Adil  . Sultan Nahrisyah  1428 -   . There were three kind of currency used in that time .  Golden coins , called Deureuham ,  Silver coins  and Tin coins called Tahil . As you can see here the coin that was in the picture with Bob Marx was in general circulation . It was not necessarely from the cargo of the Flor do Mar but could have been picked up at any money dealer todate .  Now the more important Kingdom for our search is the precise location of the Kingdom of Aru . Next time more about that .  Cornelius

Map of the location of the city of ARU  . The inhabitants were pirates  . The kingdom of ARU is called Deli nowadays  . Looking at the map and the location of the islands at the mouth of the river makes it possible to pinpoint ARU . The next step is to locate TIMIA Point . This should be easy for you guys to do . I know enough .   Cornelius

My friends  , I am a little disappointed . I had nearly 1000 views on this subject . Not one single responce though . In my last post I was very short . I know where the Flor do Mar sank . I gave you enough information . I did not tell you where the location of the Flor do Mar is .  Why Huh?  Because you showed very little interest in the subject . You all were just waiting for the disclosure of the wrecksite . Well I desided to keep that information for myself and for the people that were truly interested . Regards and fair sailing . Cornelius

Farmdigger . I was out at the site twice . Did not recover any relics . To do that you have to go through a lot of permits and greedy officials . With the right financing to back me I would like to go after the wreck . I will not dive anymore since I am too old to do that , but I will guide the project . aybe some day I will meet the right people that are honest enough to sign a binding agreement with me . Until that day comes iI will just wait ..  Cornelius

Cornelius,

Wish I could help you out on that one but I am just a young dude from the states with no money or experience in shipwreck excavating. But I am fascinated by it so you never know. Maybe some day I'll be out there with you recovering the goods but until that day I will study up on these threads. Thanks for the response.

Cornelius,

Its not that no one is interested in the Flor do Mar, its just that there's not much available information on this wreck for the 'average Joe' to know much about so that's why not many people here can comment or contribute here regarding this old Portuguese shipwreck. Plus, I think most Americans are mainly interested in Spanish Galleons because that was a huge part of our maritime history here in Florida. Most people who have never even been to Southeast Asia would not be able to contribute much on wrecks such as the Flor do Mar (which sank over 500 years ago).

Just my thoughts.. so don't take it so personally when many people are doing the 'read only' thing here for this topic.
Cheers,
TW

Hello Cornelius

Tony Wells has made a very good point.

You are the most knowledgeable and articulate person in this forum in regards to this subject.

I understand your frustration in you wanting to converse on higher level about this subject but find disappointment by lack of perceived interest. I have experienced this frustration my self on a few of the topics I have posted.

It is not because there is no interest, it is because the topic is so specialized that few people out could reply with any thing of value in regards to your level of research.

I have read your posts with great interest however I have failed to make a comment because I have only a very rudimentary knowledge of this particular shipwreck. However that said I hope you continue to post on what ever subject as you comments are highly valued and regarded.

Ps how's Pascal Kainic  these days is he still working Indonesian waters recovering porcelain off shipwrecked Junks? I heard through the grapevine that he was working on a special project off the coast of Italy?

hardluck  Wink

Hello Cornelius

Perhaps I only heard a just a rumour?  Wink

Any project these days it pays to keep it as secret as possible. As you well know private enterprise salvage operations are slowly being legislated out of existence.

I have a project that is going through the legal process at the moment.

We are becoming an endangered species.

Hardluck  Undecided
