Go Up Go Down

Hi All,

Need some help here. Got a wreck in 40' water, and in the middle of designing an Airlift to remove the (many cu'!!) of silt.

Starting small, with a 2" PVC pipe.....what CFM rating air compressor do I need?

Also, is there a cheaper way to get the air down there? Compressors seem to be quite expensive!

Thanks!!!

2" pvc airlift is too small for most anything. You might want to think about a venturi system. 2" water pump (gas powered), 2" used fire hose, homemade 4"-6" nozzle, and pvs discharge pipe.

Thanks for the info....

But, gotta stick with the 2" PVC Airlift system for now. Already started construction!!!

At any rate, what CFM compressor do I need? Anyone know?

You are going to need from 30 to 120 pounds of presser its going to depend on the silt your moving. At any rate you are going to to a lot of work with little results with only a 2 in system.

any way to know what CFM (Cubic Ft. per Minute) I need?

hi Philipknaggs

Is the air line 2 in or the suction pipe if it's the suction pipe you're wasting your time sorry but that's a fact.

Regards Xavier

Hi Xavier,
Thanks for your input. The suction line is 2". I know, I know, it is on the small side, and the silt will move slowly.....BUT, it is all I can do at the moment.

Soooooo....... can someone tell me what CFM (Cubic Ft. per Minute) I need?

The size of the compressor has to be worked out by the size of the suction pipe and air nozzle. Suction will depend on depth but check this out it will give you an idea.
