Does anybody have any information about the  5 wrecks that lay in Pensacola Bay ?  They went down in  1767  during a hurricane . I got a tip out of the Spanish archives in Seville  Spain .   Cornelius

Hello Cornelius

This may or may not be relevant. But it might be of help.

Hardluck . Thanks for your post . Every little bit will help .  I read the story as follows  :   Finding  a single steel box without any sign of a wreck makes me think that during a storm the crew ( or at least part of them ) used a life-boat to escape the sinking ship . They did not make it to the shore however . The life-boat turned over dropping the steel box in the water . The crew possibly drowned .  The ship was not a treasure galleon because if it was there would be bigger loot to be taken ashore . It would be nice to find out where these guys found the box . Something of value pertaining to the spot should have been mentioned in the news-articles of the time . Even checking back on the company and where they worked could be of great help . With modern equipment some more stuff could be found .  This makes my research heart beat a little faster . Thanks for your input .    Cornelius
