Hello Vincent

There are the famous shipwrecks of La Perouse , WW2 shipwrecks and a Chinese Junk on reef in the north of the main island.

Thanks again Hardluck but the famous Laperouse wrecks are located near the Solomons, at Vanikoro exactly.

I am looking for wrecks in the new-caledonian waters that have not been found yet . I have just found one recently south of Ile de la Surprise, near Pelotas Atoll, North of New-Caledonia. A Canon was stuck inside the main reef bareer, but I have to go back there to get more stuff...

Hello Megaloden

The shipwreck could be on the sandal wood traders that went missing in the late 1830's to the late 1840's. There was an extensive trade between Sydney the islands of New Caledonia, Solomons  and china. Trade goods went to New Caledonia where the natives gathered sandal wood for the traders who sold their cargo of sandal wood in china. Bring back items from China.

There is the remains of an old trading station on the isle of pines where Captain Townsend a wealthy shipping magnate traded for sandal wood.

The shipwreck you found may of been a Chinese junk I known there was one lost there around 1853. It may of been carrying cannon of European manufacture. Junk was collected from China to be used as a pilot boat for Hobsons bay Melbourne during the gold rush.

Hardluck
