It would be nice if you have something to say!

What do you have on a detector?

Homefire I see you're a Senior member now. How many post did you have to do to become a Senior member? Do you have any extra benefits at Senior or is it just a place for old people to hang out?  Grin

Tony , I would like it if the Jr. would stand for something real ! I could start my adventures all over again . At my age the only thing that is left to do is research . I am still very interested in the Flor do Mar and the Merchant Royal ( UK ) . Maybe some day I will get the real answers I am looking for . My wife comes back out of Indonesia tomorrow . I hope she has found some more clues to the enigma of the Flor do Mar . By the way my wife is from Indonesia .  Cornelius

Cornelius,

I didn't realize your wife was Indonesian. Which part is she from?

Recently I was talking to a UK researcher who thinks he's narrowed it down to the shoal the Flor hit on. As the result of a recent survey there they have located a target that's buried 6 meters deep. Even after 500 years and all the silt flowing into the Straits of Malacca I am finding it very hard, if not impossible, to believe any wreck could be buried so deep.

Cheers,
TW

Tony . Yes my wife is from a nobility clan of Sumatra . That is why I am in such a good standing with the nobility there . As  ,,  belanda ,, I am held in high esteem there .  Indonesia is like a second ,, home country ,, to me .   My kids are part Indonesian and living at the moment as American citizens in the USA . A target buried 6 feet down is impossible .  On the contrary , with the currents flowing in the strait the wreck should be on the surface and not buried . First of all the names in the old documents should be found on a modern map . Then taking currents and winds in consideration a possible course could be determined . After this a ( costly ) research plan should be undertaken .  Much better it would be to examine the area  East of the island of Belitung . Some  wrecksites are mentioned on my maps of that area .   Keep up your good works  . Cornelius
