Well, I have to explain that the number of guest also contains so called spider robots from Searchengines which constantly crawl our forum for indexing it on the search engines.

As far as what we can do to have more guest join our website, I am always open to your suggestions and appreciate your feedback.

Another maybe eben more important point is how we can get our members to participate in the forum.

We have over 4000 members but only 4% of them log in each day and less than half of those will write on this day. Of course it is typical for any forum that the number of members will by far exceed the number of active members. But I think if only 10% of our members were actively contributing each day, this would make for a huge change.

Any thoughst and suggestions are most welcome!

Best wishes and thanks for bringing uo this topic,

Christian

Christian;

 I have a germ of a suggestion, but not enough information, there are things I do not know, about the operation of this site, and frankly, they are none of my business, either.

If the income of the site is participation based, why not employ each members gold acquisition, on a month to month basis, to calculate "acquisition per month," to gauge participation and then give an award to the monthly, highest rated (current rate, for each month,) member. If it promotes income, and income that can be tracked, you can base the prize value on a percentage of the increase..... or is this too complex?

I am on here all the time so it would not make a difference, to me, nor likely to the other more active members, but to newbies, as well as older, less active members, iit could add a small boost??

That's it now, Outback. Goldigger's off to spend his gold. You just let him loose in the Diagon Alley of Treasure Hunting.

Well, I really need to write a site FAQ and place it somewhere so all the sites feature will be explained to the users. Many members seem to be unaware of the shop for example.

Best wishes,

Christian

Getting new members to join is quite easy by using the referral link on your profile page. Send that link to all of your treasure hunting buddies and invite them to join. When they see how nice it is with posts like yours and others, they won't be able to help themselves. Some of the guests you see are, as Christian says, spiders from the search engines which show up on two occasions. One for their daily search for information and two on the occasion of a search for specific terms. The rest might be people who have just been referred or just found us. Notice the number of new people who have just begun posting here. At one point, they were all guests. And, unless you have the "Remember Me" block selected, your own view is as a guest until you log in.

Now, go on out there and invite your hunting mates! Look at my referrals!

I invited all my friends from the Treasure Net . And believe me that is quite a few . But..........they are divers and salvagers ,  mostly interested in the shipwreck forum . They looked and saw only detectorists  , so they quit posting . We may get a few more members interesting in detecting ( and I hope so ! ) but unless we get more wreckdiving stories my friends will stay away .  Cornelius
