I invited all my friends from the Treasure Net . And believe me that is quite a few . But..........they are divers and salvagers ,  mostly interested in the shipwreck forum . They looked and saw only detectorists  , so they quit posting . We may get a few more members interesting in detecting ( and I hope so ! ) but unless we get more wreckdiving stories my friends will stay away .  Cornelius

Hello Corenlius,

well, I persoanlly I don't this this is a reason not to join or a problem. Take TNet for example. Probably 95% of their members are metal detectorist and the remaining 5% will have different interests such as e.g. wreck diving etc.

However this doesn't prevent your friends from posting over there.

I think the bigger site will get, the more attractive it will become to others as we will have more postinsg or in other words a great archive of existing topics / information.

Best wishes,

Christian

Christian what I am getting is the following : 5% of 25000 members is quite a few possible new members . Even when there are only 5% of the members of TN interested in wreckdiving , there are enough possibilities to exchange messages between these members .  Cornelius

@ James: I think recently there have been posted lots of nice finds. Just take the thinns MikeK or M.Simposn have shown to us for example.

@ Cornelius: I'm sure that some of the Tnet folks are soon going to join us Smiley

Overall I think the website is developing fantastic recently, taking a look at the stats for the past year:

Hello Cornelius, Outback, Golddigger, Christian and others-
When I started this post I was hoping to find ways ( suggestions from others) to make this site better. I have only been a member a couple of days. I just wanted to let ya'll know that I made a suggestion to Christian about Norton and how it was grading this site negatively. I have just got to tell everybody that by the next morning Christian had already fixed the issue. Christian my hat is off to you because you are on top of it. Norton is giving a green mark in the search engines. Now that I said that - I noticed the large # of members on the roll. I started to suggest the deleting of non active members. I am gled someone else brought it up. I just want to thank ya'll for welcoming folks like you do.

You never know. A member can come back after a long absence. Deleting them is cruel. Let them live.

It reminds me of a cartoon I read once in the paper. A little kid is at his computer as his dad looks over his shoulder. He says, "Hey dad! I found you in the IRS computer!" Dad says, "Huh? What do you mean?" Son, "I hacked in. I'm going to delete your tax records." He presses the key just as his dad says, "No . . . " and vanishes leaving behind nothing more than a wisp of smoke.

Well, personally I think deleteing non-active old members has a negative side effect. It is a psychological effect but imagine you would like to join a forum: One has let's say 2000 mebers (with half of them being actuve) the other one has 15.000 members with only 1000 active members, too. However which one do you think might look like the BIGGER hence more powerfull (in terms of being a source of knowledge) one?

Again, that's of course only my 2cents and I may be wrong.

Best wishes,

Christian

So do you think a member who registered in 2006 with no post's to date and has not logged in since 2006 will be back ? I doubt it ,,,and how is that cruel
