Well, personally I think deleteing non-active old members has a negative side effect. It is a psychological effect but imagine you would like to join a forum: One has let's say 2000 mebers (with half of them being actuve) the other one has 15.000 members with only 1000 active members, too. However which one do you think might look like the BIGGER hence more powerfull (in terms of being a source of knowledge) one?

Again, that's of course only my 2cents and I may be wrong.

Best wishes,

Christian

Deleteing old member's who have contributed is cruel , people who signed up 3 year's ago and never posted or logged in since well that is just house cleaning ,,So you drop  say  100 nobody said a 2000 that is stuipid ,,,For the 100 that get tossed you will still see 100 diffrent people reappear ,,

So do you think a member who registered in 2006 with no post's to date and has not logged in since 2006 will be back ? I doubt it ,,,and how is that cruel

You just never know when that treasure hunting bug is going to bite again. What's the harm in leaving them? None. What's the harm in deleting them? It could chase someone away who can't even log in to find out why they were deleted.

It's a case of the physician's oath. "First, do no harm."

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Well see? You need to see one to get that attitude cured.  Wink

It still does no harm to leave them there. They take up a few bytes of memory in a MySQL database and zero bandwidth. If they never come back, so what? If they do, they find the welcome mat still rolled out.

As Tom Beaudette used to say, "We'll leave the light on for ya!"

I guess you need to look at the member's list then, scrolling through a list with member's with no post's would scare of most

outback;

OK, but not quite the same thing.... it is not out there for members to see, and I was not looking. I guess to adapt to what I was saying, it needs to be more noticeable.
