Well, I don't know what Klugheit und Verstandnis are, but it sounds cool.

Klugheit und Verstandnis is German for Wisdom and Understanding.   It is my motto.  (and by happy coincidence, given the way things run together on this site, is also is a great treasure to seek)

I'm a fossil when it comes to online payments and do not have a PayPal account, is that the only way to donate?

PayPal is the only way but you don't need a PayPal account to donate. All you need is a credit or debit card. Follow the link and when you get to the PayPal page, just follow the directions for a payment using a credit or debit card without a PayPal account.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

If I'm not mistaken, I think Paypal accepts credit card payments too?
So, you could use a regular credit card to make a payment.
Try it out.
