Could be.  They have been messing with stuff for a while now and correcting a pile of junk.

I don't know how this board works but if the search engine is still looking at an older directory?

The forum software, SMF which stands for Simple Machine Forum, uses a variety of search methods. The basic method uses an algorithm from Google's search engine because it helps with spidering from which the forum gets its Google ranking. The Advanced Search is written by a third party and uses another of Google's algorithms to keep us as high as possible in the rankings. This is good for attracting new users and sponsors.

With all that being said, right now the forum is undergoing some work in the area of making older modifications work with the latest version of SMF. See the fine print way down at the bottom of the screen? That's the latest version and some of the add ons we are using are from 3 or more years ago making them sometimes work, sometimes not.

The work we are talking about here has been going on since early January with things being fixed as they come up. That's why I said I'd bring it to the moderator forum for discussion. That gets the issue the best possible attention with the admin and programmers. It's the best we can do right now.

Oddly enough, you can use Google itself to find your topic easier and faster right now. When the local forum is fixed, this will be faster.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Hello,

thanks for your message. I will try to answer to the best of my knowledge.

1st Regarding Related Topics:

Related Topic run on a custom build index that is you have to run the software building that index at a certain point of time and it will list the best matching related topics from that point of time. New topics only get included once I build a new index.

Regarding the search:

One thing you have to carefully check for is if you search only within a certain topic, board or the whole forum. If it is accidentaly set to only serch within a topic you will only get results from within that very topic.

I used to have the search set to using a custom index to but think it should now be real time again.

Best wishes,

Christian

Thanks. I had wondered if this board needed indexing.
