I'm seeking advice and input from all of our members:

I have been able to establish an advertising deal with several US and Canadian manufacturers / retailers. The deal is that those companies receive free advertisement on THunting.com and in exchange add a THUnting.con information brochure to all of their orders.

Thsi way bother parties benefit: New customers are refered to their website through the advertisment on THunting.com and customer are being refered to our website by distributing our information brochure.

I have used this deal with great success in Germany for my German lnaguage based treasure hunting message boards.

I'm attaching both front and back side of the German brochure with this postings. (The slogan translates to: This wouldn't have happened with detektorforum.de! A site by treasure hunters for treasure hunters ... The backside gives information about the website that is what it has to offer etc. Also there are some finds from the members)

Now my question is:

What are your suggestions what the THunting.com brochure should look like? Any thoughts and suggestions are most welcome!

Remember: It will have to address to a large and diverse group of users. That is people from all over the world and people with variying interests such as metal detecing, treasure hunting, shipwrecks, prospecting etc. ...

What slogan can you think off?

What could be on the front side? Something funny? A selection of finds? What do you think would be an eye catcher?

Also what do you think should be written on the back of the brochure? How would you describe this website in order to arouse people's interest.

Thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions!

Regards,

Christian

I think that you are on the right track. This forum is absolutely the best in the world when it comes to attracting quality people to the site with the content alone. There are just so many people here who are willing to share their knowledge and discuss their finds that it keeps the users returning.

Unfortunately I can't read German. I can only say that the pictures of the treasure and finds on the reverse side are very attractive. Perhaps you could show a detectorist in profile against the sunset on the front instead of the rubbish bin. Or perhaps a wreck diver holding up a plate underwater.

I also see more and more women getting into the hobby. When I first started, this was almost exclusively a man's hobby. A woman holding her daily finds in her hand, smiling as she holds the coil of her detector over her shoulder would be a great cover shot.

Would it be possible to translate your brochure into English for us old sods who are just too old to learn another language?

Well, you have to keep in mind that a German community will have other interestes than an international or US based one.

Hence the text on the back side would need to be modified. Same goes for the front.

Here is my suggestion:

I would put the following on the front:

Split screen. One half would black & white. A hand with trash & junk finds. On the oder half a color picture of an assortment of great finds. Slogan somthing like:

Are you looking for treasure? (on the black & white part) ... then on the color part: Then come to THunting.com  Forums. THunting.com is where treasure is!

--

On the back side I would put a modified text. Here is an example (on the left I would place finds from our members):

Thanks for your feedback.

Here is a quick translation of the flyer.

your on the right road christian, but dont for get we are international forum, like you said the german side has diffrent interests(im starting to enjoy the german forum),there are very few "international" forums, the british keep to them selfs and so do the Americans, thats fine,a uk detectorist dose not get a kick out of a barber dime, the same a US detectorist has nothing from a hammerd sixpence,International addvertising is a must, and dont for get we all use minelab, fisher c-scope ect,and the many other top brands, with out us they are nothing,we need them as they need us,its a great forum and I think its just a question of time,,that WE become number 1,christian your doing a great job and we are slowly getting there....mikek

Hello Mike,

thanks for your feedback. You are very right in your observations!

So what do you think I should put the emphasis on and what do you think I might want to remove from the text? Is tehre anything missing you would add?

I have just arranged an advertizing deal with Kellyco and they will likely disribute 50.000 (!) of these flyers per year. Hence I think a good flyer really might help in getting more people to join us.

Best wishes,

Christian

To all: If you have any suggestions for the wording on the flyer please don't hesitate to write it down here. Thanks!

Best wishes,

Christian
