I will make this short. I don't like the idea of Fisher being bought by Bounty Hunter. I have already seen some things that question quality. And the route they are taking. Early this year. Technetics came out with a new machine. It was green. Shortly later. I saw the same machine  but with a Fisher name.  It had good depth. (air tested) But the quality was questionable. Then to see labels changed. UHHHH.. I am not liking it.  I love my Fisher detectors. But I don't think I will be owning them much longer. I have a Sand Shark. I might have to get a Cortes next. There is not enough room on this board for me to explain myself..
Fisher/Bounty Hunter. For me. Your treading on thin water..

That's an interesting post. I was quite shocked when I had first heared that Fisher had been bought by Bounty Hunter. In my oppinion Fihser was maybe manfucaturing the best quality detectors in the market. Of course one will always have his personal likes and dislikes but I would vote for Fisehr having produced some of the deepested seeking and rugged machines. IT is a real pitty what has happened! I wonder for how long they will continue to produce Fisher detectors?

I think that bounty hunter in buying out Fisher is to give them a larger market share and I feel that they will probably keep both lines. As for the quality in most new detectors I have seen quality decline over the pastoral years

I think you could tell what's what by what they did with the engineering department. From the sounds of what jsehoule is saying, they may have rearranged or done away with it.

Ultimately, I think it depends on how well the machines perform in an unbiased test. Though I like to look at build quality also (i.e. where is it made - China?).

I think people are jumping to all sorts of conclusions about the Fisher take over and more concerned about quality control dropping.
Its too early to make judgements because its possible that the factory will continue as it has done for years with some mnor adjustments in the management departments.
Fisher have spent a lot of money on research and development and own the dies and other manufacturing tools they need to produce parts for their machines. The only concern for anyone really is quality control and assembly of the products.
Despite changes there may still be some of the old staff employed to produce the products fisher have made and they may keep up the high standard of workmanship Fisher are noted for.
Only a few years ago Minelab was taken over too yet they still produce a good product although I have heard that after sales service has dropped off.  People will just have to wait and see what happens. We shouldn't be unduly concerned about something that may never change despite the plant and factory having new owners.
Who knows, they might even bring out some new products with fresh ideas as the old saying goes a new broom sweeps cleaner we will just have to wait and see.  alan hassell
