Garrett GTA 500

Anyone familiar with both Garrett GTA 500 and Fisher CZ-3D? I have the older GTA but haven't detected in years. I am wondering if a newer machine would be a good idea. There have been many changes in detector technology I am sure, but I am wondering if there is a great difference in detectable depth. My 20 year old GTA is a digital machine and still works fine. My four inch loop works great in trashy areas. It is tempting to buy a new machine, but not sure how necessary it really is. Thanks in advance for any input.

I know a lot of active hunters who are still using the GTA 500 as their detector of choice...and some of them are smoking some of the guys with the minelabs when it comes to finding silver.
