The Golden Mask 3+ Power detector is made in Bulgaria and sounds like a very good machine for the price.

Just wondering if anyone has tried one out yet?

(no I'm not anything to do with them - it's just on my short list of possible machines to buy)

Thanks Eugene, that's the first place I heard about them. Gary has a good reputation so I certainly don't doubt his opinion of the GM3 and he seems to like it. From the site, I think he's currently using the GM1+ himself!

I'm after more user opinions before I make a decision though - I'm not sure how the GM3 will perform (if at all) on sand for instance, and that's one of my criteria. I'm looking for a decent all-rounder. So far the main competition to the GM3 is a (used) Teknetics T2. I was also considering a Goldmaxx Power (also would have to be a used one for me to afford it) but from what I can make out it's not much use on a beach.

I have been reading up on the DIY PI circuits though, as a possibility of making one myself for the beach. That's how I found this forum! Then my commercial detector just has to do land. I've probably got most of the components, and certainly tools, required, although they are all packed away in the loft as I haven't designed anything for a few years. I might end up making one anyway, as I guess that I can make a PI detector quite easily that will go way deeper on a beach than an IB machine could.
