i have an opportunity to purchase a minelab xs-2 for 450.00 including some extras. i understand it to be a very good detector but i am worried about the learning curve involved, and the weight. i am new to detecting but wondering if i may be getting over my head with this purchase..............or would you recommend that i stick to my original choice being the whites classic id?

the minelab is 7-8 years old and has seen little use,also has original box.   Detecting

Mine lab is a good brand but, 7-8 years old, could possibly be getting into some break downs.  Might want to think of new, for 600.00 you can get a very good fisher, garretts, whites. No matter what,  just get something and get to digging. (THINK PIRATE TREASURE).

Hello . I would go with the Whites Classic ID to start with . I believe the Minelab is over-priced for its age and if needed you may not get it serviced . For $450.00 or less you can also get a much better Whites if you shop around , a used Whites XLT E-Series would be an excellent choice !!
