I just retired and am looking forward to getting out there searching for treasures.  I'm ready to spend around $300 to buy my first metal detector.  I'm planning on buying it from KellyCo or metaldetector.com.  They both throw in some cool extra goodies.  (I'm surprised KellyCo does not carry the Bounty Hunter Platinum.....why not?).  I live in Northern California.  I want one that is good for pretty much all around (gold and coins -- beaches, woods, parks, near rivers, etc.) I have been doing research for the past couple days and have narrowed it down to the bounty Hunter Platinum or the Teknetics Delta 4000. Both of them look pretty good. Which one do you experienced users recommend?
Thanks
