Go Up Go Down

Hello everyone, I am completely new at this and have not purchased my detector yet. I have narrowed it down to either a Bounty Hunter Landstar  or the Tesoro Cibola or Vaquero. I live on Lake Champlain and the area is rich in historical sites. They have all been searched over the years but I hope I can find just a few missed items or discover an untouched area. This stuff will probably be deep. I also plan on searching area beaches etc for jewelry. Which detector. Help. Thanks. PAPAJOE

Welcome papajoe, i hunt a lot of places that were searched for years and i still find good targets. Have to go real slow and look for those deeper signals(4"+). I use a whites XLT which will tell me the depth of a target, its a handy feature to have on a machine. Happy Huntin...DW

Hello and welcome.

Same as Christian.

Tesoro, especially Silver Sabre, will provide good results and enjoyable hunts.

I would go for the Tesoro. I would not go for the most expensive at first. I would experiment  for a while until I have gotten the hang of the new detector. Many a detectorists have bought a high end one to become frustrated with all the bells and whistles on them.
Let us know what you decide to buy and Happy Hunting !! HH

Hi PapaJoe....Like Christian, the Tesoro would be my choice....I own the Tejon and have used it quite a bit but have gone onto others like the White's V3 and Garrett's Infinium PI....Whichever one you choose, I wish you all the best...there's plenty of treasure out there--just got to walk over it. Regards and good luck, Jim

I've owned about five Tesoro detectors-maybe six. I can tell you that pound for pound, a Tesoro will out-do any Bounty hunter at finding goodies in trashy areas. The discrimination of the Tesoro is one great circuit and keeps you from digging up plenty of the junk items you'd have to dig with other units. Most Tesoro units don't have a meter, but they make up for this by having good ability to avoid trash.

Hello PapaJoe, This is what I can tell you for sure, no matter which detector you buy you will need to use, practice with. The more you use it the better you get. Good luck Rick

Thanks everyone, Tesoro it is, as soon as income tax return arrives I am going to purchase a Tesoro Vaquero. The best price I have seen is $420.00 shipping included. Has anyone spotted  one at a cheaper price? If you have or do please let me know where. I won't be getting a check from IRS until around 3/1. Thanks Again. PapaJoe
