I am ready to go spend some $$$ on a good++ detector, but I need one that is idiot friendly, one that I can just turn on and it goes. I want one that's accurate and very easy to understand, what would you recommend?

You can get a good deal on a detector on E-BAY.......IF you know what you are looking for/at and if you don't get caught up in the bidding wars.   Most of my detectors have come off of e-bay because I'm too cheap to pay retail and too lazy/impatient to do the garage sale route.   But I researched the heck out of the detectors first and knew what I felt was a reasonable price for each.

The Tesoro is a true turn on and go....and you won't be tempted to become fixated on digital read-outs.   If it beeps, you'll dig it.   With the Garrett you'll have a digital readout and you'll start saying "the display says "XX" or it moves between "YY and ZZ", should I dig it or not".  Tesoro has a lifetime warranty.   Garrett has a good warranty, but it's not life time.   And if you want to spend more, you can always step up a grade or two in either line.  (Fisher F2 and White's Coinmasters should be considered in the same class as the Cibola and the 250 if you want to look at other good brands).

The Tesoro is a Simple to use machine and is more then a Performer for sure.  Look up some post by TabDog.

The Garrett is a Proven getter with a few more bells and whistles.

Agree with BA.The last 2 MD I have bought have come from E-bay.But as he said don't get caught up in the bidding
war.You may have to set back and wait a while for the right deal to come along.Getting the right price and getting it
from a reputable seller is what you are looking for on E-bay.

IF you are going to by off ebay the check that the seller has a good feed back history
and that should give you a good idea.
