There is a guy in Bulgaria that sells a metal detector called Powerscan Pro 2. He claims that it will go 20' deep with the one-meter by one-meter coil. This sounds similar to the Pulse Star II Pro (which I have). The Pulse Star sells for $4,500. The Powerscan sells for around $500 depending on what size coil you order. Does anyone have any experience with this unit?

Hello Pete,

I haven't used this unit in particular but have seen quite a few detectors coming out from Bulgaria like the Vista brand or the Blistool. The last one being one of the deepest going machines aside from Minelab. All of them look a bit clumsy and are not sexy as far as the housings go BUT they are solid and work well. The Pulse Star II (Pro) built by Wolfgang Schüler has been around since the '80s and I believe the Bulgarian machines can equal it. I sold some Pulse Star II machines to the US in the late 90s as they were USD 1500.00 in Germany. The USD 4500.00 in the States is out of the line and only because they guys importing them are greedy. There is however another German company that is not well know but that probably builts some of the best PI machines. They have good built-in data logging and are better than the more expensive Lorenz in my oppion. As far as I am concerned I would use them on cache hunting and a Minelab GPX for small onbjects like coins or nuggets.

PS: 20 feet that is around 6 meters ... I think that the max you will get with the 1 x 1 m coil is 5 feet to 6 feet.

Could be that the problem's with your coil.

No, The seller asked me to check the resistance of the coil. If it's over 2 ohms it is good. It checks 3 ohms.
