I'm about a month into detecting and love it. I was thinking of finding a used MD as a backup in case my machine broke down for some reason. What's the opinions. Please suggest a model for a couple hundred I could pick up used. Or, should I just hold off and spend that on an upgrade later?

Well you have a great little machine there, but I think you should stick with that one for about six months and when you find treasure and you will then by A better machine and then keep that one as your back up and then your good to go,

Good Luck,, AU

I agree with RR that you should save your finds and purchase your backup from that or save a lot and purchase a dream machine saving your present machine as a backup.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
