Go Up Go Down

Got this brand new, never used detector from Craigslist for $30 tonight.
Came with carry bag, sand scoop and two fresh duracell 9V still in the package.
Tried it out in the coin garden Thumbs Down
It thinks the ground here is metal Huh?
This thing might do well in beach sand but getting a single good tone between a pulltab and a coin just isn't happening in the iron soil in my back yard.
I was hoping there would be a ground balance adjustment inside but it looks like the only trimpots are for disc and sens range I guess.
My Famous Trails coil kind of works with this unit...looks like a similar design detector overall.
Do any of the techies here recognize this PCB?

I bet there's a bunch of names for this unit.

Funny thing about this detector is, in the house, it has extremely impressive discrimination in tone mode Great.
Consistently giving beeps on coins and boops on caps and tabs Clapp...BUT out in the test plot with the high iron soil, it will only be stable in all metal...The poor instructions say it has auto ground balance in all metal.
I think this detector might be a good choice in dry beach sand with lots of trash...those beeps and boops would be nice to bypass the time wasters...Wish the Cibola would do that.
