I don't care about numbers. All I care about is a sound and whether or not it locks on. I can tell the depth by the sound it makes.
I got a BH as a backup, but the Gamma is trying hard not to let me use it.

I just picked up a used Gamma 6000 recently and I'm amazed by it.  Fantastic machine.  Very good depth and even does well in getting coins out of areas that have a lot of iron junk in them.  I did not expect the Teknetics detectors to work nearly as well as this Gamma works.

I also have the Technetics Delta 4000 that I used for a while until I got the Gamma 6000.
I like the fact that all I need is one 9 volt battery and its weight is just right so that I don't tire from lugging around a heavy detector.
I remember those older detectors that were really heavy ,but the depth on them was not that great.

I wonder if the Gamma 6000 is still in production or discontinued. Maybe it was too good of a machine for the money.  The lowest price on Gamma 6000 was $429. Usd dollars.  But the performance I read was much better than the price , compared to higher up performance models.  The big W, Walmart no longer carries them, I wonder why.      Best Regards .........Eugene

I have bought my detectors on Flea bay using companies that carry them.
They usually add some extra items with the detectors and they have a 5 year warranty. All you need is a receipt of when you bought it.
Whatever you decide to buy, I hope it gets you those great finds.

I got the Bounty hunter Platinum, but they are only carried by a couple of companies as far as I know.
I heard they bought up the whole production of them.
They are about $200 less expensive than the Technetics ,but are basically the same thing and made in the same factory.
I guess the name brand is what we pay for.
I still have the Platinum in the carrying case that came along with it  plus some extra items like headphones ,gloves and I don't remember what else came with it
I guess the Gamma doesn't want me to use the other one since it keeps sniffing out those coins and stuff.

Have test it on the beach?
How it works on the water line, and wet black sand?
