Unfortunately these hoaxes do not help anyone researching any historical subjects outside of the elite academia.

The Academic world has a tendency dismiss the the entire subject because of a few self centered attention seeking individuals, and label anyone outside their circle as Pseudo Scientists or researchers.

Which can be very frustrating to researchers outside the academic circle who some times make amazing discoveries.
