If not, what kind does it have ?

I got on the Official Tesoro Site , clicked on Manuals and checked the specs. on all of the Silver Sabre series, but didn't see any details on the discrimination system(s) used.

Thanks !

Do you know what ED120 discrimination is?

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Beachcomber, Bugar and GoldDigger1950,

Thanks for your replies !

I was comparing the Tesoro Compadre to the Silver uMax, looking at the two in the Tesoro MDI, 21st Edition. The ad for the Compadre mentioned that it has the ED180 discrimination, but the Silver uMax ad didn't say, so I needed that info. for my review.
Thanks for the positive answer on that Beachcomber.  Great

GoldDigger1950....Yes, Monte Berry gave an explanation of ED120 and ED180 last year on Find's Treasure Forums. Rather than try to paraphrase it here, I think it would be best if you read it for yourself.  Follow the steps below.

Step #1...Click-on this hyperlinked address:

Find's Treasure Forums

Step #2...Scroll down to Monte's reply titled "David, here are my "brief" Monday morning replies.", dated July 20, 2009 07:38AM.

Step #3...Scroll down to where you see David's quote #4 and Monte's reply underneath.

If you want more, read above & below quote #4.

Hope this is what you wanted. If more clarification is needed, my suggestion would be to E-mail Monte at his address: MonteVB@comcast.net.

Otherwise, if you are a registered member at Find's Treasure Forums, you could either send Monte a pm (personal message) or post your question(s) in the public Tesoro forum. In most cases, I have found that Monte will respond to topics having to do with Tesoro metal detectors.

Hi

Just wanted to add : I own a Compadre with the 8", and a mate has the Siver with the same coil.

The Silver will go a tad deeper in some situations, but the general sensitivity of the Compadre is slightly better.

Tabdog could tell you more about this.

Hi Beachcomber .....Thanks for the additional information !

Yeah, Tabdog seems to be the Compadre "Guru" these days. I have learned a lot from him.

He provided information I requested to make a replica of his Arkie Tabdog Hand Digger. If you're not already familiar with that, there is a thread on

. If you care to take a look, follow the route below.

After getting on the above website, scroll down to the gold-colored bar titled Metal Detector Forums > Metal Detecting Discussion Forums > Arkie Tabdog Hand Digger Info Requested, currently on page #2.

Another post I did on my replica digger, with some cost information, etc., can be seen here: > Metal Detecting Discussion Forums > Accessories Forum > Arkie Tabdog Hand Digger Replica, currently top of page #1.

Here's wishing you great finds this year !  Victory
