I am contemplating buying a LST, can anyone suggest the better coil for finding gold in very mineralized ground?

I have been gold prospecting in Western Australia for 5 years, have Minelab 2200, Extreme and 4500.
The reason I am looking at a VLF machine, is that there are high trash areas in very mineralized ground and the Minelab PI's
can't discriminate well enough to separate the rubbish from the non-ferrous targets.

I'm glad you didn't take my question the wrong way. The reason I asked is simple. Minelab machines have active coils so a coil can in fact make all the difference in differing soil conditions. A Tesoro coil is passive and will not make a whit of difference in mineralized soil. CoilTek makes some really good coils with active components inside that enhance the Minelab circuitry. Tesoro coils are nothing more than loops of wire so there is no enhancement.

You probably want a VLF/TR machine with automatic and manual ground balancing. The old Garrett Groundhog and Garrett Deepseeker were excellent and took Australia by storm back n the late 1970s. There are quite a few hanging about in closets and sheds down here. If you can lay your hands on one of those, you'll be in chips for a long time.

Look to Fisher, Whites and Garrett for modern machines with automatic and manual ground balance. Be sure to get both of those features in whatever machine you settle on. Some of the newer models have multiple frequencies which will also help you to notch out your mineralization. Have fun shopping, mate.

A little less in the Depth department but manage the Soil better.
