Lots of folks want a better working Cibola.
Adding a mod--external GB control will turn this detector into a better machine.
Folks have expressed interest here's the link to the mod I did.

Do you know how I could get Keith Southern to mod my Cibola? I don't know how to reach him. Thanks, Justin Barrow (940) 230-7699

Leave Cibola as it is...it does a wonderful job in most cases as it is. Adding Manual GB  just complicates things...I hate Manual GB. Maybe if you could make a Cibola with manual and auto GB then it would be very versatile unit. Now that's a cool idea!

I disagree, manual GB does not complicate things. It takes about 20 seconds to GB. If you go back to the same site a few days later and haven't touched the GB control since the last outing, you just turn on the detector and go hunting.
Let's put it this way, I was so thrilled to get my first Cibola after reading all the depth hype talk in another forum several years ago. I sold it a week later, I was pissed, what a pc. of $%%^^ detector.  Couldn't get more than 2" on a penny when I hunted the hot mineralized ground while living in the Atlanta GA area. Several years later, Keith Southern made a post how wonderful the Cibola hunts with manual GB being added. I found another Cibola priced very reasonable. So I proceeded to do the mod, the first thing I noticed, the ability to get several more inches during an air test, tune in or out hot rocks, now being able to pick up small gold nuggets better, the biggest plus was being able to hunt that bad ground. Now I had no problem picking up a penny at 5-6".
I've  hunted and watched others hunt the same ground with the Tejon and couldn't see much difference in performance vs. the mod'd Cibola. I had a Tesoro Vicaro to play with and would take the mod'd Cibola over the V any day. I wish I still had my mod'd Cibola, now that I live up North back to mild soil conditions, would love to see what one  could do. The biggest decision factor by adding manual GB, the Cibola will no longer be covered by any warranty. On the plus side, resale value  of the Cibola will increase by $25-40.00. If you hunt tot lots and school yards, prospect, you need to own the 5.75" searchcoil.

another thing I've considered is that...if each coil has to be balanced for the Cibola...you will have to send your machine to Tesoro each time you switch coils. a manual GB will simplify this...unless I misunderstand?
