I am thinking of getting  another detector.  Idiot Can't spend too much but would like opinions about the Compadre. What kind of depth n normal inland soil conditions on coins and also relics? what about nuggets? Any help would be appreciated. Hope I didn't open a Grin

No Worms there!  LOL

Running at 12 Khz, those buggers find the goods.

Jewelry Lovers they are.

As for nuggets may work.   If they had manual GB that would sure help.

I have NEVER heard any thing bad about them.

Like Homie said they love Jewellry, and they love finding small hammered coins in the UK ,

so I dont see why it wont do a good job but check out about the ground balance like homie said.

Homefire, Sorry I didn't express myself very well. Was going to check to see if the GB worked well in highly mineralized soil. Auto GB is great for some things, but I like the manual GB for nugget hunting most of the time. I have an old Heathkit that has the manual GB and it works fine but the discriminate is the old TR. Freq on it it 7.3khz.

The Compadre hasn't got ground balancing of any kind. Zip. Nothing at all. Turn on and go.

I love mine and it doesn't have any difficulties in soil of any kind so ground balance is really moot. It's rock stable at the beach or in the park.

Don't get mad at me GD, but the compadre has "fixed ground balancing". Specs per Kellyco web site. Should be ok for occasional nugget hunting, but I "want" one that has the manual GB also. Have to wait for that one though. Just going back to work Monday after 12 weeks off. Great

I'm not mad at you, mate. KellyCo has been wrong on occasion. So have I. I believe they might be wrong this time though. Have you checked with Tesoro? They have manuals you can download. The features listed for the Compadre and the Compadre manual both seem to omit any mention of GB. I've never been disappointed with my Compadre even though I believe it has not got GB. What they may have done at KellyCo is cut and paste from another detector and forgot to edit that little bit.

Oh, heck. I'll just come out and say it. The Compadre doesn't have the circuitry for it. I've been inside. It's just too basic.
