just out of curiosity, when i took a peak inside the control box of the umax the ic is labled as eldo 1.2, i`ve read that it`s the Eldorado's`s ic chip in there, as far as i`ve gathered it would mean the latest discrimination from tesoro, so with that i`m know the basic specs, so for under the hood performance and discrimination what is the true capability of this machine? does it mean you can add other ic`s to boost performance? or just add the various search coils offered for different jobs.  Cool

Just use your machine. Leave it alone. You really can't boost performance on an existing design. Want to play around? Build your own.

Tesoro has a lifetime warranty till you open it up think you may have voided your warranty.

well i just peaked, didn`t tamper with any thing on the inside, didn`t break any seals of any sort ether........every things back together, so if they don`t know.......anyway it`s a awesome unit, just wish the control box had a water resitant seal in it........ Angel

to follow up.....it is interesting that the silver umax dosn`t have it own chip though.......i guess that's how the engineering team does there work......and a bit of news on those excelerator coils from Bulgaria , word has it that there not.....quality made and not to waist your money on them, pity they did look cool and had a 12" by 10" that was made for the umax @ kellyco.  Cool

and to follow up on the warranty question, no i have not voided the warranty, to tamper, alter or modify the electronics in any way or any unauthorized repair or service automatically voids the warranty, and abuse, purposeful neglect, such as leaving a dead battery to leak inside the control box, etc.......but there is a company that will put dust seals that don`t void the warranty, pentechnic is the name they claim it right on the web site, so lucky for me i`m covered because i was a good boy and didn't`t tinker......... Cool

Oh Gizmo and please correct me if I'm wrong, something tells me your the kind of guy that likes to pick things apart just to see how it works.  Grin
You said you didn't mess with any innards and you fitted the housing back as it was then I would think that there should be no problem if it ever came up that you need warrented work done on it. Wink
Still I'm glad it was you doing this and not me.There is no way in hell that I will ever pick my machine apart..... No no!

Gizmo has not ever met a detector he liked off the shelf. He's always willing to tinker with it. He forgets that the best improvement he can make to his detecting is adjustments made between his headphones.

Gizmo,

My Conquistador uMax  also has the same Eldorados ic chip only thing missing is the panel mounted 3  1/2 turn GB pot to make it a Eldorado.

Have fun tinkering.

HaRM
