Ground Balancing a Silver Sabre 2

I am sure that this subject has been addressed but as a newbie and still trying to find my way around so any direction would be welcome.

I have just put a 4" coil on the machine and it has been suggested that it is worth adjusting the GB pot inside to get the best out of the setup. I gather a ferrite core is the simple 'tool' to use to emulate ground.

Two questions, 1/ how big a peice of ferrite? 2/ what exactly are you listening for?

I am assuming that you set to all metal mode.

This sounds deep. Is there a reason you do not ground balance it the traditional way?

Hi Paul!
I've got a "Laser B2" which is basically the same as the sabre.
You are right about the pot in the middle of the board.
Last time i "fiddled" with it I used a "hot rock" (basically a largish bit of "Coke")
Set the pot to just off silent with the coil close to the "coke".
Not sure if it was strictly the right way to do things..... but it seemed to work!
Whatever you do don't adjust it with a "Jewellers screwdriver" (they Bu**er up the pot too easily) ... get one of the plastic adjusters that Maplin sell.
