My Tesoro Compadre arrived today in the post. I'm off now to give it a workout. When I get back, a full report.

It performed magnificently on a sand pit playground that I had worked a month ago. I wanted to go over area that was sort of clean but still managed to find around 60 pieces of foil and other junk, $9.00 in modern coins, a silver bell charm and a silver necklace. The necklace was the bit surprise as it was so very thin that I was surprised I even found it at all. Broken near the clasp, of course, but repairable.

Two thumbs up so for for the Compadre.

I was looking at buying this model a month or so ago.  It just kind of slipped my mind until now.  I would have to say that the Compadre is good with junk, or seems to separate the ID better than most detectors in junk.  I believe it is because of its recovery from when it receives a signal.

Anyways.  Sounds like a good little machine.

Outback, it is entry level for my wife. She hates knobs. I gave it a good workout so I could best instruct her in using it.

It is great in trash. There are a few things that play into that.

The obvious is that it has a small coil. Then it has fast recovery,
like most Tesoroes. The response speed is spot on.

But what everybody sees as a short comming, is actually a major
reason that the Compadre does so well in trash. It does not have
a lot of depth. As a mater of fact, it does not have much highth or
width either. That reduces masking. The powerful machines have
trouble doing this even with a small coil.

Do not get me wrong. You can find coins at five inches and so on.
It has good depth for a entry level machine.

But, not only is it good in trash, it is

KING OF THA TOT LOT Cool

Everybody should have at least one.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog

Congrats on your new toy.

I just love both my Compadres.

Be patient. Try it in different spots.

Then you will find the places where it will work better.

Or just let tha better half show you up with it. lol

But tot lots are a natural task for these little buggars.

Best wishes with it,

Tabdog

Today I found a silver hair barrette with rhinestones, a gold one and a Bad Boy(tm) heavy bracelet along with $12.90 in modern coins. Two sand pit playgrounds. It's a hot little machine. Small coil but has a wide search which compensates. I also didn't realize the coil was hard wired.

I like it. The wife will love it. This is all down to you TabDog, you know. Your raves about the Compadre made me do it. I mean, I was powerless thanks to you.

Is there a support group for this? "Hi, my name is GoldDigger1950 and I'm a Compadre-holic."

I know, It is all my falt.

I caint help it.

I am a hopeless Compadre-holic.

Yes it is hard wired. But, if you need more,

get more machine.

It will work for an all around machine, but I think

it is an accessory, kind of like a spair coil.

And what it specializes in is what I do a whole lot of.

I anit never seen a spair coil do what the little buggar can do.

Happy Huntin,

Tabdog
