I think I set a new personal best at foil recovery yesterday, mate. But it really his a hot little machine. About depth, I actually recovered a removed pop tab at 10 inches. A toy car at 10 inches, too. And, amazingly, a huge iron spike in the ground at 15 inches. Deep in the dirt below the sand, it was. I dug it up just to see what the heck it was. I could probably have found it even deeper with the mass that thing had.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Got the mail. Now I have to give it some thought. While I repair the gate.

Big job, that. The entire gate - both sides - blew off during a wild windstorm and tumbled down the street. Completely gone. Getting a new dog today so it's a must fix sort of thing. Pictures when I get it done. It'll be a new gate rather than a repair.
