Thanks for asking.  Yeah, it got here on Tuesday and I've been working and going to high school graduations and a number of other nuisance tasks.

So, sadly, the Vaq is still a virgin.  But what a tease!!

I've only played with it in the house but it seems like another awesome Tesoro.

But aren't they all.

Mudfoot,
We are all still waiting with bated breath to hear the results of your first (and hopefully other) outing(s) with the new Vaquero! How is it performing?  Got any pictures to show us of finds you've made with it?   Lemmee see!  Lemmee see!  Shocked

Sorry guys, I've been way busier than I'd like this summer.

I have been out for 3 quick forays with the Vaq and I'm impressed.  First time was to a new tot lot that is great for testing a machine.  It has new soft sand so it's easy to dig everything.  I found no coins larger than pennies and nickels.  Makes me think somebody's been cherry-picking that place.

But I also found some small cheap charms and even metal staples (like standard office type) so I know the Vaq can find the really small stuff.  I had the discrim set below foil.

A week later I hit the sidelines of a soccer field and dug clad until hands and knees were worn out.  The Vaq seems to be a keeper; very sensitive and easy to operate. Ground balancing seems to be no problem at all.  I'm running in normal tuning, not super-tuned.

Does anyone have any tips for pinpointing with it?  I do pretty well with it but sometimes get closer just X-ing in normal mode.  That makes me think I could improve in pinpoint mode.  (The sound it makes kinda freaks me out too!)

Anyway, I'll post about the 3rd hunt when I get another spare minute.

Thanks for reading; and waiting.

Sorry, Mudfoot, I gave you a new name in that message...   I guess I was just trying to say that when you are detecting, cover every inch of grouns as if you were a "mudflow", every square inch.  That's My Story And I'm Stickin' To IT!!!
