Will a larger coil work on a tesoro compadre? And if so, would there be any advantage such as added depth to putting a bigger one on one?

Yes a larger coil would go deeper at the expense of smaller items not being detected.   Wise

I have both large and small coil models and Homefire is right. The larger coil gives slightly better depth but there's a catch. The small coil allows better pinpointing and when used in an area of nearby metal, allows you to go closer to the uprights of a playground set, for example. The small coil is less sensitive along the edge and you can nearly touch the pipe before it sounds off.

Being hard wired into the circuit, I believe the coil is tuned to the board so changing one would be an issue. Perhaps, like me, you'll find it more economical to simply buy a second one. At under $100 second hand, they're a real bargain as well as being a champion of a detector.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Thanks, I didnt know they were wired in. I am considering buying one. I had an idea the coil may be tuned to the machine or vice versa since it has only the disc knob.
