Hello Toolboxdiver! Welcome to the THunting gallore!

I've had a Tesoro Stingray a few years ago but it was unfortunately very poor. Little depth and bad dicrimination. Maybe that's the reason why they have canceled it. But I've heared the Tigersahrk was much better. I have always enjoyed using Tesoro.

I've also had a Fisher 1280-X Aquanaut and a JW Fishers Pulse 8X but also sold both of them. I'm still looking for a new VLF UW machine though.

Now I am mainly using an Aquapulse that had originally been developed by Eric Foster. It is a very good and ruffed machine. What I like best is that you have a small handheld staff with the coil attached to it. This makes searching underwater much easier.

Regards,

Christian

I was thinking about buying a under water detector and was looking seriously at tesoro but was really wondering if they are worth the cost Im seeing off brands for about half the price and wondering if the extra money for a name brand is worth it.

Steve . forget about price for a moment . Think about how good the detector works . In other words how deep is the penetration to detect . What size / material  will it detect at what depth . How is the discrimination of the unit .  If you get answers to these questions it is easy to find out which detector you have to buy .  Cornelius

Fisher Impulse, Tesoro Tiger Shark

I have both a Tigershark and a Fisher Impulse. I love them both. The Tigershark was $300 less in money but not in value. The Tesoro cost me $599. and I'm tickled with it. If you find one 18K ring with the Tesoro that a cheap machine passes over... well does it make up for it???

My hunting buddy bought a cheaper U/w detector, except it wasn't.Found a dime at one inch and missed a small gold ring..  I think it is for sale..If you are planning to visit some of the spots I hunt, it would be a good unit for you to buy cheap,,,cordially Nad Smiley
