Tesoro Vaquero
« on: June 22, 2010, 06:41:15 PM »
Go Up Go Down

I just recently purchased a Tesoro Vaquero, and what an amazing machine it is. I have used other Tesoro machines with my father and have always been very satisfied with their performance. But this machine is a monster. I have hit targets well over 15in.deep and am very good with the discrimination. I's super light weight and easy to throw around endlessly all day. It's marketed as an all around machine and that is a 100% true statement. I'm very satisfied with my purchase and it was pretty affordable at $420.

It performs so well, and has been the best purchase I've made in awhile. Thanks Tesoro!! Grin

i just started with a tesoro vaquero a few months ago and im in love! is so powerfull,i also have a minelab xterra and the vaquero is deeper and lighter than the minelab! love it!
i used to detect with TID and multitone detectors and at the first with the vaquero was little hard because its monotonal...but gettin used with it and i discover the plus on it!

Gary what size are the targets your picking up at 15 inches?I agree that Tesoro makes a great detector,I'm a user of a Tesoro Tejon myself wouldn't give it up for anything.

I am glad to hear good things about the Vaquero,I bought one this week.Haven't got to use it yet though.I have been using my Fisher 70 for the last year.A great machine although it can be a little tricky at times.

My modded Cibola is basically the same as the V but the trigger mount, all metal switch is pretty handy, as well as the 10 turn GB pot.
Been shopping for the 5.75 coil and maybe a big DD>
My preferred method of operation: Wise
I set my GB, then peg the threshold and bring up the sens til it starts to chatter then back off a hair.
By not pegging the thresh, you can get more audio dynamics but lose depth.
Run the disc just under iron and go at it.
When you get a hit, crank up the disc as you sweep, note where the signal breaks up, then switch to all metal with a slight hum with coil in air then "look" at it in all metal and you can tell how deep or large or dense the target is.
Rings and pulltabs can be "seen" by cranking disc to just before break up, then sweep REALLY slow and listen for chopped signal.  Great
