Haven't made it that far East yet Bill. Almost headed over that direction the other day though, just for a looksee Smiley

I'll have to check it out. If it's haunted, who knows what goodies might be there Cheesy

According to geologists- gold CANNOT be found in the Superstition Mts - end of discussion.

It's real. There is gold to prove it.

There's a lot of stories about the Dutchman, and although they do make for some killer reading, they're just stories. There is also a lot of truth about him and his mine, if you can find it  Grin

Good luck with your search. I can't tell you how fun it is researching this mine and the history of the area. I have learned a lot about central Arizonas history. I've also done a lot of hiking in the Superstitions, and if I never find the mine, at least I got some good exercise out of it. That range has some of the roughest terrain in the country, but damm is it beautiful.

Remember if you ever go in, you'll need water more than anything, more than food. That desert will take you down real quick, and without warning. Don't think it's safe when it's cool either, it get's freezing cold at night up there. Always go prepared, and keep as light a pack as you can. Take a camera, there is some amazing pictures to be had. Here's one for example.

You're right- Gold CANNOT be found in certain geological formations- which the Superstition Mts are known for. Almost all reputable geologists agree with this and that's why they all say the Lost Dutchmans Gold mine is nothing but a hoax. I'm not saying that there can't be a Lost Dutchman  treasure that could have came from someplace else. That's may very well be true but as far as an actual mine-it's a hoax.

You're geologist friend is incorrect. It can, and has been found, in the rock, in the Superstitions. Not some treasure left behind, but actual gold in a vein.

It's funny that people say gold can't be found in there. Are you going to tell me with a straight face that there's no way gold came up in all that volcanic activity? It did, lots of it. It's a freak of nature for sure, but it happened.

Smiley

Some people believe in Santa Claus- Little Green Men from Mars-the Tooth Fairy and Elvis sightings but that doesn't mean they exist.
