That's the 64,000 dollar question, Froggy. Most signs maps codes etc are bull or hoax's but these map IMHO are real and will one day will make some folks very rich

I have been asked many times if the Peralta Stones are fake and I always respond:
Most of the people that claim them as fakes do so because they cant understand them. It is easier and saves face instead of acknowledging they cant figure them out.

Howdy you all, Been a while since I was back on here, I did get to read the Lost Dutchman book by a Mr. Black. He has some very interesting FACTS on the maps and MOLE INC. It will make you laugh at yourself. I just got it from the library and took it back last week. I don't no who said it, but the real treasure is the beauty of the mountains. If it takes a tall tale to get you there-you are still a happier person. Don't quit your day job just yet! Happy hunting you all, Mark

A couple of things about a map that must be kept in mind at all times is that to make it usable , the starting point and the direction of travel must be indicated. If they are not then you must guess! if I could guess well I would be in Vegas. Also, symbols or sighs that are used on a map must have consistant meaning. I belief the markings on the Stone Maps meet all these requirements.

The Bear:
The Peralta Stones are real. They show several mines that the Peralta Family had at the time, as well as dwellings, smelters and even, where the ore was stored. The "Priest", "Horse"and the bottom of the "Heart" Stone maps, All start at one specific point. The top of the Heart stone map, shows you the surrounding area, once you are at the location shown by the bottom stone heart map.
The Priest map, shows you things that you will see or have to look for along your journey, But the Horse map shows you the area around you (once at starting point). you need to look for the Horse, once you know where the horse is, then you can tell, where there are three mines (one of them being the priest mine), one storage cave and the place where the Santa Fe church treasure is buried. The bottom of the Heart map, shows you the landscape and the way to pass to get to the location of the top of the heart map, once you are where the bottom leads you, then you will see the all the markers and points marked on the stone map.
I tell you this, because I can read the stone maps and I know where the mines, dwellings and storage cave all are.

Hello fellow buffs:
I recently paid a visit to the stone tablet display at the Superstition Mountain Museum. It was a real disappointment! The display is dimly illuminated. This plus the angle of the lights, produces poor contrast between the stone faces and the inscriptions on it. Worse is the fact that the tablets are inside of a glass case. For auto focus cameras, this can cause it to sometimes focus in on the glass rather than what is behind it. In addition, the camera flash can reflect off the glass obscuring portions of the stone that you wish to photograph. Stronger lighting at more oblique angles is needed to really bring out the details. The sign below the display has an error. It credits Travis Tumlinson finding the tablets on a small hill above the FISH CREEK BRIDGE! The sign also says these are the ORIGINAL stone tablets, but when you visually compare them to photos previously taken (from books on the subject) there is a remarkable difference in details. I got the impression that these were in reality, reproductions, not the original stones. (If you visit the museum, check out DON and you will see what I mean)....... LDM BUFF

if you have a mini tripod you might try a night exposure without flash then brighten it up in photoshop to get away from flash glare. It wouldn't be the first time a museum displayed a fake and had the real stuff locked in the basement...
