You can make a great saw from a chainsaw blade... chain. Unlink it so it is just one long chain. You will see about an 18 inch section... put strong/heavy loops at each end... add a handle at to the loops by using a pull start handle (like on the lawnmower) with a loop of cord so you can fasten it to the metal loops... it will cut better than any wire saw.

A handheld folding pruning saw is a good one also. Lightweight and compact and pretty aggressive cutting.

I also like a good quality garbage bag for multi use. It can be used as a poncho, ground cloth for kneeling, sitting, and always can be used to carry out the garbage.

PMA: Positive Mental Attitude is a must.

Last but not least is practice, practice, practice. (can you start a fire with that magnesium stick?)

Add to the list snake bite emergency kit , GPS or compass , plenty of food , water ... In the forest/mountains a rifle/scope with the proper caliber bullets to stop a bear or mountain lion . Whatever will fit in the largest back-pack you can carry . Except the Metal Detector and rifle [most important] kept out of course .

You forgot to throw matches in there. Pretty handy if you need to make a fire in a quick hurry. Otherwise you can always have some sort of magnifying glass to help start a fire.
