A lot of insects  are luminescent under blacklight. I know centipedes and Scorpions. A lot of sulfide minerals as well

Thanks for the tips and links everyone. I am going to buy one now. Are there good flourescing minerals in Texas? Are the minerals semi valuable or just look cool? I think it says emeralds, rubies, and sapphines light up and they are very valuable.

Here in New Mexico you can find things like Corundum's  Fluorides,  Uranium Salts, and a pile of other goodies.   Any thing that does not wiggle is a Mineral.

These can be had at radio shack for less.

Just walk down a Alluvial Wash on a good dark night and you will be amazed at what can be found.   I just put mine on the end of a Broom handle and us it like a detector.
