Hello every one , I am in the process of doing and putting together a guide / book / video for getting the ultimate treasure hunting, gold prospecting and rockhound workshop, and ideas or what has worked will be a great help. I am going to start the planning of the space and have contractors in for the complete rewiring so every thing has lots of power and lights. Tell me what has worked for you. Or what you have always wanted to do.
Thanks
Greg

Hello Greg!

Welcome to THunting.

As Rock Hunting, Prospecting and Treasure Hunting are different fields, publishing different books / videos might be a good idea. Do you want to publish a printed book or eBokk?

Best wishes,

Christian

Christian,
Thanks for the reply will probably start as a e-book since that?s where my background is the strongest, then go on to a printed one, videos will be made along the way, I do not consider them different, it may just be me but you cant really do one with out having some interest in the others, start with gold prospecting, starts with a pan and shovel, then leads to detectors and after that you just got to get a dredge and then since you spend a lot of time underwater a real quick love for rocks and shipwrecks starts, then when just out with the detectors out on the quest for lost treasure, rockhonding and meteor hunting just goes with it. So I need a shop that has every thing, that?s why I am asking for ideas from the experts that just specialize in one of the areas.

I can?t be the only one out there that considers them all one big hobby and the difference is where you?re at and what equipment you have on you as to what you can do. I love them all.

If I was going to monetize it your suggestion of keeping them specific would be the way I would have went, I was able to leave the JOB thing over a year ago and do full time Internet Marketing from home, I consider the treasure hunting part of my sites and writing all for my enjoyment to keep me sane and having fun.

I may do something where site owners can sell it if they want and let them keep 100 percent of the profits, there are a lot of great sites out there that are not set up to support them selves, so I think that would be a great way to keep them going.

Thanks
Greg

Greg,
I have over 40 years of treasure hunting/finding, but I would not know where to start to help you. You really need hands on experience, and that means in the field prospecting or wreck diving. My first successful experience occurred in 1964, when we salvaged 20,000 Spanish coins from a wreck in the Bahamas. Since then, I have hunted/salvaged all over the Caribbean with some recoveries. Now I am currently involved with prospecting, and prospecting equipment design. There is a great need for more sophisticated, and inexpensive detecting equipment for the small time prospectors. Videos or books detailing the science of potential valuable mineral identification, and processes of commercial recovery would be in great demand. As far as recovery of lost or buried treasure, I feel that will always be a chance occurance. I applaud your desire, and I wish you well.
Bill

Well its no longer an issue, while we were traveling the country in our motor home our house in PA was destroyed, had a water pipe break, and yes we had the water co turn it off when we left, they charged us just forgot to do it, then after break we had a 2 foot snowstorm so the disaster team could not get there, all books and treasure papers and maps were trashed. Just start the collection again lol

Good grief, what a run of bad luck that was! Can you rebuild? Insurance OK? Will the water company be held responsible? So many things to find out. I don't envy you at all, mate.

AS for the house its still in the legal system, everything was lost . we were able to donate a few things that were better then the stuff some had, but we just walked away from it all and everything was hauled out. When you realize its only possessions and they can be replaced, its all about having fun with your family and that could be in a mansion or a tent. Thanks to every one for the good wishes, and to let you know how we dealt with it check out the video our 9 year old did of our year, the house was not even a part of it, so we did something good there.
