I recently ran a survey among metal detectorists asking just one question: What is your biggest problem or question with regards to metal detecting?  I would like to thank everyone who replied.  Briefly, I have analysed the results as follows.

Getting search permission - 25%
Finding (productive) places to search (research)  - 24%
Which metal detector to buy - 8%
Metal detector limitations - 8%
Archaeologists/establishment - 8%
Interference - 6%
Commercial - 4%
Ethics - 4%
Junk - 4%
Technique - 2%
Coils - 2%
Depth - 2%
Finding raw gold - 2%
Cleaning/conservation - 2%

The top question or concern, gaining search permission, is now the subject of a new exciting e-book called PERMISSION IMPOSSIBLE.  If you responded to my survey and would like to receive a FREE copy of the book, please drop me an email to David@truetreasurebooks.com with PERMISSION in the subject line.  If you would like your name (in whatever form you prefer) included in the book please tell me in the body of the message.  I promise I will only use your email address to send the book in the next few days.

I now have a blog, Metal Detecting World, up and running where I will be addressing most of the issues raised and giving you some tips to help overcome your metal detecting problems.  The address is:

Great work.  I'm sure the book will be very informative as I'm also sure our members would be willing to help again in the future if the need ever arises.

Keep up the good work.
