Yes.... but.... under U.K. law that's great if it makes it more valuable.
The finder gets the FULL market value as reward!

Hey Paul,

It would be nice if our 'Antiquities Act'  and 'Treasure Trove Act' had a 300 year specification WITH reward. Ours reads (Treasure Trove Act, paraphrasing) 'EVERYTHING goes to original owner OR proven decendants and THEY can give you a reward IF THEY CHOOSE TO. LOL! Also the 'finder',...me....MUST search for the original owner or decendants while the powers-that-be (Gov.) hold the goods. ALSO if valuables are found on non-private property, if it is over fifty (not 3 hundred) years old it comes under the 'Antiquities Act' and MUST be turned over to the Gov. (goodbye treasure).'

This includes ONE gold coin OR that cache of Wells Fargo or Jesse James loot you searched and researched for, for a decade, that NO ONE knew the location of and would have stayed in the ground forever without your hard work.

Clearly, we TH'ers in America have a 'King's deer' problem that is more penalizing than Britain or Europe.......Just my take.

Bud
