How To Treasure Hunt With A Black Light

There is a easy way to treasure hunt and prospect without using a metal detector. The item is called a black light or more correctly a Ultraviolet light. They come in two forms, Shortwave and a Long wave. You will need one that operates on batteries.
A long wave is probably a better choice because it [...]

No, it will not. Light in the ultraviolet is the easiest to filter and deflect. It simply reflects off the surface of the ground but it will reveal the nature of minerals and other things on the surface.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

This topic is back there some place, I may have brought it up?

Here in New Mexico, you can walk along and find Cool Minerals with them.

Best on a moonless night as dark as you can .

Corundum's, and a ton of other cool stuff Florance under the lamps.

Even the Cheapo battery type can produce the Goodies.

If you see a Rock Scampering around, it may be a Scorpion.

I would imagine that black lights come in various sizes and strengths. What would be a good start? Are they expensive? Where do you find these portable black lights? How close to the item do you have to hold the light.
Just a few of the question this article didn't answer.

Hi have several, including one combination shortwave/longwave, none of which I have bought from the same source.   Prices range from a few dollars to a few hundred.  You'll find them in sporting goods stores, rock shops, and on the internet (e-bay, as usual, is a good source).  Here are a couple of urls:
