I need advise on how to safely operate a compressed-air jackhammer. Any tips, do's and don'ts would be much appreciated.
My men have worked with electrical generator-powered demolition hammers before, but never with compressed air. Thanks!

And you believe you'll find an expert on jackhammers here?

Well, I suppose anything is possible.

Compressed Air its self is the main Potential Hazard.

I seen a air line become disconnected and smack some one in the head.

The guy didnt know what happened for three days.

Follow this Link and there are tons of good Safety Videos for you.

hello hobyist, I am not an expert but I have used an air powered jack hammer. ear plugs and a face shield are a must! some cheap cotton gloves will help alot the thicker kind that sell in construction type stores that sell by the dozens really help  fight blisters on the hands. I am guessing that you will be using a 90 pound hammer.  the air power will have stronger impacts than the electric hammer and once in a while it will punch a whole instead of breaking the rock or cement , when this happens the bit can get stuck in the whole and can be a real pain to get out. pay close attention and when a hole is punched move the bit to the side a few inches and start again. let the hammer do the work the operator is just there to guide the hammer. in other words if the guy tries to put a lot of pressure on it he will just wear himself out. one of the other posts mentioned the hose blowing out, there are anti whip clips to keep the hose from whipping if the ends become disconnected and Chicago style couplings have pins that keep the coupling from twisting and blowing apart. hope this helps and if you have any questions i would be glad try to give you an answer. good luck.

Dangerous Dave, thank you for the reply. I used the bad boy in the attached photo instead.  Smiley It was mounted to a Hitachi EX200.
